Terms for SSL Certificate Services

Effective Date: 14 February 2026

This policy governs the purchase, installation, and management of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificates facilitated by Grey Square Private Limited (“Grey Square”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

1. Nature of Service

1.1. Facilitator Role: Grey Square acts as an agent for various third-party Certificate Authorities (CA). We facilitate the application, validation, and technical installation of SSL certificates on your hosting environment.

1.2. Validation Requirements: The issuance of an SSL certificate is strictly subject to the validation processes of the CA. This may include Domain Validation (DV), Organization Validation (OV), or Extended Validation (EV).

2. Customer Responsibilities

2.1. Accuracy of Information: You must provide accurate and up-to-date information for the Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

2.2. Validation Actions: You agree to complete all necessary validation steps required by the CA. This may involve:

  • Responding to validation emails sent to administrative addresses (e.g., admin@yourdomain.co.zw).
  • Uploading specific verification files to your website.
  • Providing legal company documentation for OV or EV certificates.2.3. Delays: Grey Square is not responsible for delays in certificate issuance caused by the Customer’s failure to complete validation steps promptly.

3. Installation and Compatibility

3.1. Third-Party Hosting: If your website is hosted with a provider other than Grey Square, you are responsible for providing us with the necessary access to install the certificate or performing the installation yourself.

3.2. Browser Compatibility: While we only provide industry-standard certificates, we do not guarantee compatibility with obsolete web browsers or very old operating systems.

4. Renewals and Expiry

4.1. Expiry Risk: SSL certificates have a fixed validity period (typically 1 year). An expired certificate will result in “Not Secure” warnings for your website visitors.

4.2. Renewal Alerts: We will send renewal reminders; however, it is your responsibility to ensure the certificate is renewed and paid for before the expiry date to maintain continuous encryption.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

5.1. Non-Refundable: Once a certificate has been issued by the CA, the fee is non-refundable.

5.2. Incorrect Data: If a certificate is issued with incorrect information provided by the Customer, a new certificate must be purchased at the full current rate.

6. Disclaimer of Warranty

6.1. Security Guarantee: While SSL certificates encrypt data in transit, they do not guarantee that a website is “hack-proof” or free from malware.

6.2. CA Liability: Grey Square is not liable for any breach of security, financial loss, or data theft resulting from the failure or compromise of the Certificate Authority’s root systems.
